The town of Lloydminster, Alberta-Saskatchewan is somewhat unique in that it straddles a provincial border. The Lloydminster area was first settled in April, 1903 with the arrival of the Barr Colonists, approximately 2,600 people from England. Commemorating Lloydminster's unique bi-provincial status is a monument consisting of four 100-foot survey markers which was erected in 1994 near the city's downtown core.
