Alberta Vacation Attractions: Rocky Mountain House

Alberta Vacations, Travel and Hotels

The town of Rocky Mountain House sits at the confluence of the Clearwater and North Saskatchewan Rivers. The town has a long history dating to the 1700s with the presence of British and Canadian fur traders during the westward Canadian expansion. Rocky Mountain House was named after the fort that was established in 1799 by the North West Company of fur traders along the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. The original settlement also served as a launching point for many explorers in their search for a passage west to the Pacific Ocean. Be sure to check out the Rocky Mountain House Museum to learn more about this town's exciting past.
