Things to do in Wetaskiwin
Battle Lake
Beautiful Battle Lake is set in a narrow valley surrounded by hills and trees. Hiking, nature viewing, angling and cross-country skiing are encouraged. Power boats are permitted on the lake with speed limits enforced. Fish species include yellow perch, northern pike, white sucker, lake whitefish and burbot.
The Reynolds-Alberta Museum
The Reynolds-Alberta Museum displays some of the finest restored vintage vehicles found in Canada. The Museum interprets the impact of technological change in transportation, aviation, agriculture and industry from the 1890s to the 1970s. Visitors will see a wide variety of vintage automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, trucks, stationary engines, tractors, agricultural implements, aircraft and industrial equipment. The Wetaskiwin & District Heritage Museum
The Wetaskiwin & District Heritage Museum features re-creations of a general store, hotel room and a garage from the city’s early days. In 2004, the Wetaskiwin & District Heritage Museum moved to its new, larger home on Main Street.
Water Tower
Perhaps Wetaskiwin’s most famous landmark is the water tower. The water tower dates back to 1906 and is the oldest functioning water tower in Western Canada. In 2005, the tower underwent a major renovation. Look up, you can’t miss it!
